imgbox and imagebam are no longer shutting down + allowed Image Hosts

I'm not sure myself, i used to download some images that i thought i had posted already, jsut to scan against my pictures and delete the duplicates using the program AllDup. I'm sure there will be a way, but i'm not sure exactly how, i've not had time to look into it. There are alot of add ons for link grabbing. Also quite a few programs for it too.Such as jdownloader, BilderHerunterlader, bulk image downlaoder.

I think i remember having a configuration where i could copy the thread URL and it would download all the pictures from that thread, but i didn't actually test if it was the thumbnails or full sized, i presumed full size, but i can't remember what i was using.

If you do find a way update us, then i can add it to the OP to help others.

What image downloader software do you use ?
Until then I used imagehost grabber but it does not work with some sites like postimage.io recently using here, it download only small size of pics...
I'm testing Bulk Image Downloader but i have the same problem, maybe a bad config, I just begin with this software...

Have you try downthemall addon?

No, I just try BID, until then imagehostgrabber was perfect for me except for radikal.ru, but thanks I will try downthemall and the softwares suggested by Visualizer :T2009:

I've added http://pimpandhost.com/ To the list of hosts we can use.

Has anyone had experience with it? I Like the fact the owner of it seems really keen on doing his best for it, if you check the forum section you can see that.

Also added http://www.pixroute.com/ seems to be the brother of piximage but with login

How very strange! Im not trusting it still.

Just noticed you using Pixroute so im gonna sign up and use that and postimage

I wouldn't trust them for now either but at least if they stay open our old imgbox links will still work.

Big news!

Imgbox is NOT shutting down.
An Admin on another forum has been speaking to Steadfast (The owner of Imagebam/Imgbox) and they are not shutting down Imgbox. SGL

Thanks for the info, since imgbox allowed uploading i had been checking imagebam hoping for something similar. What i hope from this is that they restore my "dead" links(as well as other peoples). There is a chunk of my images (roughly 2,000 set uploads) that are not available to download, i don't know if they're gone for good.

^ same here!
I still dont trust to upload on there again, maybe that was their plan lol

So shall we still carry in backing up files?

Lesson learnt here is to just interchange your uploads to diff sites so if one goes down at least half or quarter of your links wont die.

I'm still going to backup. Bought a new hard drive, better make use out it! Lol But It's a lesson learned. backup the stuff you don't want to see deleted. Might be a waste of time you reuploading now.

Yeah I'd still backup (if you haven't already) and go elsewhere, the risk of a imminent takedown on Imagebam/Imgbox is too high now that it's obvious they're a target.

Postimage.io would have been a good alternative but they're introducing a paid option soon which will then force "Image Optimisation" on all images if you don't pay for their premium service.... https://blog.postimage.org/2017/05/06/upcoming-premium-service/

Interesting dlewis05! I was not aware of that. But in ways it shows they're prepared to do alternative things then to jsut shut down and everyone losing their images. I shouldn't think they'd "unoptimize" odl images, so the old ones should still be okay.

I think if we all want to help these sites survive we shouldn't be using ad blocker on their website. So long as they aren't too intrusive and too many i'm more then happy doing it.

Do you run this image host? I tested it and there is no thumbnail links, it only links full sized images, which is too big.
